Summary
The Hanse 371 is a highly regarded performance cruising yacht designed by Judel/Vrolijk, combining a powerful hull form with a comfortable and practical interior layout. With her efficient fractional rig, broad beam carried aft and deep cockpit, the Hanse 371 delivers excellent sailing performance while remaining easy to handle short-handed. This vessel is fitted with a Volvo Penta MD2030 diesel engine and offers generous accommodation, ample storage, and a bright, well-ventilated interior, making her well suited for extended cruising as well as club racing. Dark and Scary has excellent inventory including Carbon racing sails from Saturn Sails
Construction
The hull is of GRP construction using a solid laminate below the waterline for strength and durability, with a balsa core above the waterline to reduce weight and increase stiffness. The hull is finished in white gelcoat and incorporates the Hanse signature chines and wide stern sections, contributing to stability and interior volume.
The deck is also GRP with a balsa core and molded non-slip surfaces, providing secure footing throughout. Hull and deck are bonded and mechanically fastened, forming a strong and rigid structure.
The keel is a fin keel configuration, manufactured in cast iron or lead depending on build specification, and secured with stainless steel keel bolts.
The rudder is a semi-balanced spade rudder with a stainless steel stock, providing light and responsive helm control under sail and power. Rudder bearing replaced 2023
The cockpit is spacious and ergonomically designed, with deep seating, excellent bracing, and clear access to the swim platform at the stern.

Electrics
The electrical system is based on a 12-volt DC installation throughout the vessel.
Power is supplied by a dedicated engine start battery and a domestic service battery bank, typically located close to the engine for efficient charging.
Charging is provided by the engine alternator, with an additional shore power and battery charger depending on specification.
Electrical distribution is managed through a central DC switch and circuit breaker panel, allowing safe isolation and control of onboard systems.
