Construction
The Jeanneau Sun Legende 41 is a strong fiberglass and Kevlar cruiser-racer sailboat built by Jeanneau between 1984 and 1994. Designed by Doug Peterson, this vessel combines racing performance with durable cruising construction.
Hull Construction
The hull uses an ARAMAT K glass fiber and Kevlar mixture.
Jeanneau developed this high-strength material with Du Pont de Nemours.
Workers laid the materials by hand using traditional methods.
The boat displaces about 7,800 kg (17,196 lbs).
Keel and Ballast
Fin Keel with a spade rudder.
The internal ballast weighs around 3,100 kg (6,834 lbs) and uses lead or cast iron.
Deck and Hardware
The large cockpit features full teak battens for the seats
Jeanneau designed and treated all stainless steel deck hardware in-house for extra strength and corrosion resistance.
The deck includes custom gear like a permanent backstay adjuster and instant-control genoa cars.
Interior and Woodwork
The interior features high-quality teak woodwork throughout.
Owners could pick an owner's version with three cabins and two washrooms, or a team version with four cabins.
The design includes nine portholes and three deck ventilators for fresh air.
