The hull is complemented by a bulb fin keel, providing both stability and performance.
The rudder is a balanced spade design, offering precise and responsive steering.
The hull exterior is typically finished in a white gelcoat with an antifouling coating applied below the waterline to minimize drag and protect against marine growth.

Accommodation
The Westerly Typhoon 37 is designed for comfort, functionality, and long-term livability aboard a 37-foot performance cruiser. The interior layout maximizes usable space while maintaining a bright, airy atmosphere, making it suitable for extended offshore passages or relaxed coastal cruising. The yacht comfortably accommodates up to six people, with sleeping arrangements distributed across two main cabins and the saloon.
Forward cabin
Features a spacious V-berth arrangement with deep storage lockers underneath the berth for sails, spare lines, or personal belongings. Overhead, there are shelves and small cubbies for personal items, and reading lights provide convenient illumination for night-time use. The forward cabin is ventilated by opening deck hatches and portlights, offering fresh airflow and natural light, creating a bright and comfortable sleeping environment.
Aft cabin
Located beneath the cockpit and offers a generous double berth or twin berth layout depending on owner customization. Accessed via a private doorway from the saloon, the aft cabin provides privacy and is ideal for family members or guests. The cabin includes hanging lockers, shelves, and additional storage beneath the berth. Opening portlights and hatches ensure ventilation and natural light, while high-quality cushions and upholstery provide comfortable sleeping quarters.
Saloon
The saloon serves as the central living space, featuring a U-shaped settee around a sturdy, central table, which can be converted into an additional double berth if needed. The settee is designed with ergonomics in mind, providing comfortable seating for dining, socializing, or navigation planning. Large hull windows and overhead hatches allow ample daylight to fill the saloon, while curtains or blinds ensure privacy when required. The interior is finished in rich timber veneers, giving warmth and a sense of craftsmanship.
Galley
Positioned to port, adjacent to the saloon, and is designed for extended cruising. It includes a gimbaled stove with oven, stainless-steel sink with hot and cold water, ample countertop space, and secure storage for cookware, provisions, and utensils. Below-counter storage lockers and drawers are designed to prevent shifting at sea, ensuring safety and convenience during passage-making. The galley layout is practical for single-handed operation or cooking while underway.
Heads
The heads compartment is typically located starboard near the forward cabin, though some layouts include an additional aft heads for greater convenience. The heads feature a marine toilet, sink with hot and cold water, and optional shower facilities. Locker space is provided for toiletries and cleaning supplies, while proper ventilation and a deck hatch prevent condensation and maintain a fresh interior.
Throughout the Typhoon 37, additional features enhance comfort and functionality. Overhead handrails, strategically placed lighting, and ample storage lockers ensure safety and practicality at sea. The interior layout emphasizes a balance between private spaces for sleeping and shared spaces for socializing, providing flexibility for both cruising families and sailing crews. Headroom is generous at approximately 6 feet 3 inches (1.91 meters) in the saloon, and the careful design of portlights, hatches, and companionways ensures the interior feels spacious, airy, and light-filled despite the yacht’s performance-oriented hull form.
