Summary

The President 41 Double Cabin is a popular, Taiwan-built trawler-style motor yacht from the 1980s known for its warm Burma teak interior and efficient cruising performance. Over 115 hulls of this model were manufactured during its production run.

Invercloy is currently set up as a liveaboard with the owners doing the occasional trips away. Various modifications have been made to make live aboard easier. Eg, Solar panels, fresh water electric toilets and LED lighting.

Construction

The hull and deck are manufactured of glass reinforced plastic (GRP) utilising chopped strand glass fibre mat and woven glass fibre roving. The fibre lay-up plan is described in detail in the build specification and original Bureau Veritas build survey report still retained in the boat papers. The layup is substantial with orthophthalic polyester resin used to consolidate the laminate matrix and additional laminate and backing plates used in areas where higher design loads are expected. Structural strength is provided by strengthened and reinforced longitudinal stringers and transverse beams laminated into the hull.

The deck moulding utilises sandwich technology with a ¾” balsawood core sandwiched in between GRP laminate skins incorporating both chopped strand glass fibre mat and woven glass fibre roving.

The hull and deck are joined with a flange joint secured with adhesive and fasteners and covered by a substantial teak and rubber strake at the sheer.

The hard chined, semi-displacement, deep footed vee-hull with a gently curved overhang at the bow provides good performance and excellent sea-keeping qualities. The substantial encapsulated long keel ensures a good degree of lateral stability as well as protection for the twin shaft drive propellers and twin hydraulically operated rudders. A electrically driven, tunnel mounted bow thruster provides additional slow speed manoeuvrability.

At the transom an substantial GRP/stainless steel frame securely bolted onto the hull shell provides port and starboard step access from pontoon level. This structure also provides enclosed storage for equipment including the tender outboard engine.

The large foredeck includes an extended bow platform that provides storage for the main anchor with an electrically operated windlass fixed proud onto the foredeck behind it. Port and starboard side decks enable unencumbered walking around from the spacious aft deck. The decks are completely enclosed by substantial stainless steel tube stanchions and rails connected to a push-pit and pulpit with lower guard wires.

The aft deck is teak planked with an alloy framed acrylic Bowmar ceiling hatch for the aft cabin located centrally.

The mid positioned flybridge is accessed via steps up from the aft deck. It includes passenger seating aft with a helm station/instruments forward and is enclosed by substantial raised coamings/sidewalls. A GRP moulded gantry frame bolted on to the flybridge coaming supports the radar, VHF antennae and navigation equipment/lights.

The President 41 Double Cabin / Sundeck Trawler is a popular, classic Taiwanese-built motor yacht celebrated for its highly space-efficient interior and rich Burma teak woodwork. Despite having a relatively modest beam of 13'5", it maximizes its layout to comfortably sleep up to 6 people, making it a highly requested platform for liveaboards.

The accommodation layout consists of the following living areas:

Master Stateroom (Aft Cabin)

The signature feature of this double-cabin layout is the expansive aft master suite, which offers maximum privacy from the rest of the boat.

Berth Configurations: Split port-and-starboard twin beds.

En-suite Head: Includes a dedicated master head with a vanity, toilet, and a highly desirable full standing enclosed shower (or small tub).

Storage: Extensively outfitted with beautiful teak cabinetry, hanging lockers, deep drawers, and large mirrors.

Forward Stateroom (Guest Cabin)

Located at the bow, this cabin is perfect for guests or family.

Berth: Features a large centerline double/queen berth.

Guest/Day Head: Features its own adjoining forward head with a toilet and sink. This is configured as a "wet head" without a separate stall shower.

Main Salon & Lower Helm

Up a short companionway from the galley is the central living area, boasting excellent 360-degree visibility thanks to massive cabin windows.

Living Space: Furnished with a loose or built-in sofa, chairs, a coffee table, and an integrated wet bar or liquor cabinet.

Lower Helm: Located forward to starboard, allowing all-weather piloting with an expansive view.

Engine Access: Teak-and-holly floor hatches lift right up out of the salon sole to give direct access to the engine room below.

Galley & Dinette

In the standard two-stateroom configuration, the galley is located forward and down from the main salon.

The Galley: Equipped with a full-size refrigerator/freezer, a 2x induction hob and combi oven, a microwave, and a double stainless steel sink.

Booth Dinette: Directly opposite the galley to starboard is a spacious booth-style dining settee. This table drops down to convert into an extra double berth for guests.
